Tackle used by Aardvark Fishing

We at Aardvark Fishing believe that we need some hardy tackle.  The primary reason is that the rods have to be transferred from boat to shore every time we fish.  Also the boat has a large canopy over it which means that we bash the rods on the steel supports regularly.  As a result when using rods with rings we seemed to lose 1 or 2 rings on every trip so maintaining the rods was very tiresome and expensive.  To overcome this we researched the web and found the Shimano Interline a perfect solution to our issues.

We bought 6 x 8 footers and 12 x 10 footers and we paired up the 10 footers with TLD25 reels ….the combination is perfect for trolling and the rods have taken fish to 40 kilo with no problem in their flexibility or action.  See the photographs.

Our lures are mainly Rapalla X-Raps diving to 15, 20 and 30feet.  Our preferred lure is the black and silver mackerel which you can see in the top of the photo below.  We also stock a range of the X-raps that are also available on board.  As well as these we stock Storm lures, especially the Deep Thunder series and find them an excellent series of lures.  We mainly use nylon line and 3 foot steel traces because we fish over rocks.  The rods are located into plastic sleeves attached to the boat, so you do not have to hold them all the time.  We use Shimano gear whenever possible and we set everything up for you so that you can relax and enjoy the trip.  Dolphins often are seen whilst we troll.  Our boys – Prem and Uncle – are available to help you, and water and beer are normally available on the trip.  Prem runs the bar at shack rates.  Food is not provided on the boat.

We catch many species of fish including grouper, indian salmon, snappers, trevalli, bream and king fish amongst others.  Please see the gallery to gauge our success!
